Based in Ringaskiddy, Recordati Ireland, a subsidiary of Italian company Recordati, set out in 2007 on a project to reduce its energy usage and carbon footprint by at least 10%. It began with the idea that sustainability was important not just for financial gain but was an important ethical concern of all employees.
By 2012 the company had achieved a 19% drop in energy demand whilst simultaneously increasing output by 37%. In July 2013, Recordati Ireland submitted the project for both the National and European Responsible Care Awards.
